About Me

Hello Everybody,

My name Jose and I am eager to start this new semester at this great educational institution!  I was born in 1990 in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico a beautiful colonial city full of history and amazing people.  At the early age of 5 my family and I made the long journey to the United States where we settled to start a new life.  Since my arrival to the United States I have been living in Fallbrook a town with a population of about 30,000 people and best known for its avocado groves.  I love living in Fallbrook because it is a nice and quiet town.  Throughout the 16 years that I have lived in Fallbrook I have attended the majority of its public schools.  In 2008, I graduated from Fallbrook High School and decided to attend CSU San Marcos because of its great location and liberal studies program.  I hope to graduate from CSU San Marcos with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies this May and begin the CSUSM Multiple Subject Credential Program during fall 2012.  My ultimate goal is to become an elementary educator!

I would describe myself as an individual that enjoys working with technology and appreciates its contributions to society.  However, I would not consider myself a tech-expert.  I love working with computers, surfing the web and visiting great websites such as YouTube.  I am addicted to YouTube and love the great and hilarious videos that people post.  Who doesn’t, right?  One of the main reasons that I am taking this course is to improve my computer skills and learn new and innovating ways to incorporate technology in the classroom.  Technology will only continue to improve and it will be my task to embrace it in order to be an effective educator.

At a young age I knew that I wanted to be an educator and I have made it my goal to make this dream a reality.  As I stated above, I will be entering the CSUSM Credential Program this upcoming fall and I have decided to continue my education at this university because of the College of Education’s commitment to “transform public education by preparing thoughtful educators”.  I am certain that the one-year that I spend in the credential program will be memorable and with the help and mentorship of my professors I will hone my teaching skills.  Ultimately, I hope to be one of the many educators graduating from CSUSM that will help transform public education!

  2. Hi Jose! I'm on the same boat as you it seems like. I'm the first generation to be born in the US and attend college. My parents were refugees when they came to America. We are truly fortunate to receive an education, and be able to to pursue a career that we are passionate about. Just like you, I knew I wanted to be a teacher at a young age. I feel like it had to do a lot with the teachers I had throughout my educational life. I hope that all of us here would be able to do the same as our teachers did for us. Making a positive impact in our students, in a way that would set them up for success.
